We welcomed to our Head Office in Beetham last week, a group of 6th form Business Studies students from Dallam School, a local secondary school in the neighbouring village of Milnthorpe. Steven Blacow, our CEO, made a presentation followed by a Q&A to provide a ‘real life’ case study to support the students in the curriculum. The students then had a tour around our manufacturing facility.

As an important local employer in the area, we have a long standing relationship with the school – supporting careers’ advice sessions, work experience placements and the 6th form Business Studies curriculum.

As global leaders, we see it as our responsibility to act ethically towards not just our customers and employees, but also our local communities. With this in mind, we value how we’ve been able to support Dallam School in equipping its students with knowledge and skills before entering the work place.

Rob Blyth, Head of Careers at Dallam School said: 'Being able to visit companies such as Pelta Medical Papers really brings alive the syllabus we cover in A Level Business. It is important for students to visit real companies and relate their learning to actual businesses, especially in the manufacturing sector. Perceptions of manufacturing were changed by coming into the mill, and students started to understand that manufacturing is a real opportunity in their career planning.'
